If your business has a website, the five things worth checking today are all about failure. Appearance does not come into it. Can someone finish a purchase or a form submission twice by double clicking, and does your system record that as one order or two? When a payment or a signup fails, does the visitor see what went wrong, or a blank screen that sends them to your inbox instead? Is there a person or a screen watching the submissions that need review, or do they pile up unseen? Does anyone get told when the site goes down, or do you hear about it from a customer? And is there a copy of your data somewhere other than the server running the site? A site that looks good and a site that recovers are two different products, and only one of them keeps earning while you sleep. We think you had to stop and consider at least one of those five just now.
